I recently got a bus lane fine which I wanted to appeal until
I was informed by London Borough of Brent that the fine would
go up from £50 to £100 if I lost my case. This I feel
needs reviewing as lower income families and pensioners should

the 8th September (2004) which mentioned one person who was advocating
that Muslims who apostasise should face the death penalty. "Our

...................SHOCK! .......Moaning Muslims Poll
Britons are sick and tired of moaning Muslims. That is the shock
finding of a Sunday Times-YouGov opinion poll which canvassed
more than 1,600 people.
The poll shows that 86% of people think the protests
held in London by Muslims angry about the publication of cartoons
which featured Mohammed were “a gross overreaction”.
By 56% to 29% respondents said it was right to publish the cartoons
in Denmark and republish them elsewhere.
Earlier this month Muslim protesters in Britain
carried placards urging violence and death against those who insult
Islam, and celebrating last year’s July 7 London bombings.
Asked about those protests, 58% said it made them angry and 76%
said the police should have arrested those carrying offensive
or provocative banners.
Politically correct
The establishment politicians are seen to be out
of touch with the voters and both police and politicians are criticised
for not confronting Islamic extremism, with 80% of respondents
saying the authorities show too much tolerance of Muslims who
urge extreme acts. Two-thirds, 67%, think this is because senior
policemen such as Sir Ian Blair, the Metropolitan police commissioner,
are too “politically correct”.
Where foreigners stir up racial and religious
hatred, 81% of people think they should be sent back to their
own countries, even if to do so would endanger their lives.
According to another poll published last week,
7% of Britain's 1.6 Million Muslims - more than 100,000 people-
believe suicide bombings in the UK could be justified in certain
circumstances. These are not exceptional findings. According to
a YouGov poll taken last year, 24% of British Muslims expressed
some sympathy with the motives of the London bombers. Most disturbingly,
32% agreed that : Western society is decadent and immoral and
Muslims should seek to bring it to an end."

Omar Khayam (born Bedford) is a British Muslim notable for public
protest. In February 2006 he attended protests in London against
the Muhammad cartoons, dressed as a suicide bomber.
As this was less than a year after the lethal 7 July 2005 London
bombings, his actions were featured in news reports, such as on
the front page of The Sun which expressed outrage against his
protest endorsing the deaths in London.. When newspapers traced
his whereabouts, he initially refused to apologise, saying his
protest was justifiable. However, he later appeared publicly alongside
local Labour MP Patrick Hall to apologise.
Subsequent to this apology, newspapers reported his prior conviction
for selling illegal drugs, and accused him of hypocrisy as such
drugs are haram (prohibited under Islam), and drug trafficking
carries a mandatory death sentence in several Muslim countries.
He had been convicted in 2002 of selling crack cocaine, and sentenced
to six years' imprisonment. He was released on parole in 2005,
having served half of his sentence. According to a report in the
Daily Mirror, he had been a significant local drug dealer in Bedford,
known on the street as Skinner. The report stated that he became
increasingly radicalised in prison, mixing with extremist Islamists,
and promising to sell drugs to aid their cause On 7 February 2006,
following heavy publicity, he was arrested by Bedfordshire Police
and returned to prison for unspecified parole violations . Following
a Parole Board hearing, he could be forced to serve the three
years remaining of his sentence.
Kurt Westergaard must be sleeping easier tonight,

within 5 years, Iraq will once again be under the control of the

Letter from America
I inadvertently got 3 Congestion Fines while visiting
London from the US in January. The car hire company, Hertz,
generously added a 30 pound "admin fee" + Vat,
and deducted the entire amount off my credit card - almost
500 US dollars - without telling me! Many people I talk
to here in the US are becoming aware of London's new business
un-friendly attitude, and are choosing to stay away, or
do business elsewhere. This kind of approach does not
sit well with visitors who are trying to bring business
and revenue to London! And it won't help the 2012 Olympic

We are waiting for the extortion camera
to go up on the Surrey Quays one way system. The main
junction heading south is nigh on impossible to cross
at busy times without stopping inthe dreaded yellow box.
This permanent traffic jam is artificialy created by the
ridiculously wide bus lane that leaves just one lane for
cars as three busy lanes merge into one. Surprise surprise,

Rhona Kiley experienced serious problems when
she tried to settle a penalty fine for failing to pay the £5
charge.
She had to make about seven calls to the call
centre run by Capita, the firm that administers the scheme for
Transport for London, headed by Mr. Kiley.
Mrs Kiley, who works for business lobby group
London First, said the automated phone system did not accept
payment. She finally paid the £40 penalty - reduced from
£80 for early settlement - by getting through to a call
centre operator.
Her difficulties were revealed to councilors
by Mr. Kiley at a meeting to discuss the charge.
There are thousands of stories just like the one above. There
